Product Description

A.Vogel Echinaforce® tablets are a herbal medicine with extracts from fresh, flowering herb and fresh root of purple coneflower (Echinacea purpurea).

The medicine can be used in children aged 4 years and older, adolescents and adults.

What is the product for?

Echinaforce® is used to strengthen the immune system's defenses (immunostimulation) and for the supportive treatment and prevention of recurrent infections such as colds.

These particularly include colds with:

• cough

• catarrh

• watery eyes

• runny nose

• sore throat

• headaches

• muscle aches

If you do not feel better or even feel worse after 14 days, contact your doctor.

Application and Dosage

Always take this medicine exactly as described in the package leaflet or exactly as instructed by your doctor or pharmacist. Check with your doctor or pharmacist if you are not sure.

Adults and adolescents aged 12 and over:

For prevention: 2 tablets 3 times daily.

For colds and febrile colds: 2 tablets 3 to 5 times daily.

Children aged 4 and over:

1 tablet 3 to 5 times daily as directed by a doctor.

Normally, uninterrupted use should not exceed 2 months.

Contraindications

Echinaforce® must not be taken:

• if you are allergic to purple coneflower (Echinacea purpurea), plants from the daisy family or any of the other ingredients of this medicine

• by children under 4 years of age

Interactions

No interactions are known.

Pregnancy and Breastfeeding

As there is insufficient data, use during pregnancy and breastfeeding is not recommended.

Ingredients / Composition

The active ingredient is the dry residue of a liquid extract from fresh purple coneflower herb and fresh purple coneflower root.

1 tablet contains:

5.9 mg dry residue of a liquid extract from fresh, flowering herb of purple coneflower (Echinaceae purpureae herba), corresponding to approx. 100–200 mg of fresh herb.

Drug-extract ratio: 1:12.
Extractant: Ethanol 57.3% m/m.

In addition, 1 tablet contains:

0.3 mg dry residue of a liquid extract from fresh roots of purple coneflower (Echinaceae purpureae radix), corresponding to approx. 5.6–9.8 mg of fresh root.

Drug-extract ratio: 1:11.
Extractant: Ethanol 57.3% m/m.

Other ingredients: Sorbitol, betadex, silicon dioxide, magnesium stearate and orange flavouring.

Side Effects / Tolerability

Like all medicines, this medicine can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them.

Very rarely, i.e. in less than 1 in 10,000 treated patients, hypersensitivity reactions have been reported.

Possible symptoms include:

• skin rash

• itching

• edema

• shortness of breath

• drop in blood pressure

Important Notes

• Do not use in children under 4 years of age.
  

• If you are allergic to purple coneflower, other daisy family plants or any of the other ingredients, the medicine must not be taken.

• During pregnancy and breastfeeding, use is not recommended due to insufficient data.

• Uninterrupted use should normally not exceed 2 months.

• If symptoms do not improve after 14 days or worsen, contact your doctor.
